"The Art of the Possible vs. The Art of the Impossible"
Ahhh, how we cats PURR at having an intelligent man in the White House again.
But we don't agree that this video is Barack Obama "versus" religion. We think this is Barack Obama explaining why having religion separate from our public life is such a great gift. Thanks, Founding Fathers!

Welcome!
Welcome to
My Cats Are Democrats
, a political blog written entirely by cats.
Why cats? Because the sorry state of human discourse requires the Animal Kingdom to step up and provide a new, refreshing take on current affairs. And cats sit at the very top of that kingdom.
We’re well aware of the popular stereotypes — that “cats are Democrats while dogs are Republicans.” But the cats who write this blog really
are
Democrats. What animal in its right mind wouldn’t be, after the way Trump and the Republicans have behaved?

Pundit Profiles
Baxter
(no relation to the spokescat for Meow Mix) was named after Jack Lemmon's character in
"The Apartment
." Although Baxter keeps his sexual orientation private, he is an FIV-positive kitty with a keen interest in gay rights.
Guest blogger
Miss Kubelik
also owes her moniker to that classic Billy Wilder film. As a former outdoor cat, Miss K provides trenchant political commentary from outside the Washington bubble, looking in.
Sniffles
' issues are equality for women and climate change, although she seems to think she can escape global warming by hiding under a blanket. If Sniffles doesn’t agree with something you say, she’ll probably pee on you.
Zamboni
is a hockey fan (of course). She follows Canadian and American politics, and is a zealous protector of English grammar. Zamboni's favorite things include clean litter boxes and Bush being out of office — two items she considers related.
Hubie & Bertie
grew up in a crate together in a no-kill shelter. They're thrilled to have been adopted and to follow in the paw steps of such brilliant bloggers as Sniffles, Baxter, Miss Kubelik and Zamboni.

Comments Policy
We welcome comments but not cattiness. Here are the rules.
Stay on topic. We don’t like being distracted with catnip when we’re playing with a Bizzy Ball.
Be succinct. Rambling on and on is
shedding
, and if you do it, we'll have to clean the furniture.
Avoid
fleas
(inaccuracies). Please make sure information you cite is correct. It's frustrating when interesting posts turn out to be full of fleas.
Don't swipe your paw at us. No prejudicial or abusive comments based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, species, nationality, party affiliation, etc. Sheath your claws.
You may include relevant links (or is it lynx?), but please, no irrelevant links.
Please don’t send
hairballs
(attachments), which we will only throw up.
We will edit your comments if necessary. And because cats are superior, we may correct spelling or punctuation errors you make.
Comments that break these rules are
litter
, and we will flush them away. And yes, we reserve the right to totally ban you. Sorry, but even nine lives are too short to put up with you if you misbehave.
