It's the first business day after the Democrats' big win on the COVID bill, and the dominant headline out of the Senate is a GOP leadership retirement. That's five, count 'em, five Republicans stepping down for 2022. Kind of makes you wonder if they're leaving because life in the minority isn't fun — and they don't see it changing.
Or maybe Roy Blunt is quitting because he's too embarrassed by his fellow Missouri Senator, and he didn't want to spend the next two years answering questions about Josh Hawley and Trump.
We're looking forward now to hearing from Old Farmer Grassley from Iowa and from Ron Johnson (R-Moscow). We cats PURR.
