The general executive board of the national Teamsters Union said today they wouldn't endorse a Presidential candidate in 2024. This was after their president, Sean O'Brien, spoke at the Republican National Convention, and was waiting for the Democrats to extend a similar invitation to their confab in August. Spoiler alert: It didn't happen.
We can't explain why the national union made the non-decision they did, but we will aver that it's a loss for Benedict Donald and a semi-win for Kamala Harris. But guess what's happened since that news was announced? Multiple Teamsters locals have come out in support of Harris-Walz: Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, California and New York.
Trump might have been the favorite among the entire membership, but that's irrelevant. Who cares if he gets 90 percent support from Teamsters in Alabama under these conditions? Trumpsters can try to pooh-pooh the California and New York endorsements, but that's where the House is going to be won this year.
So, as one tweep we follow observed, if every Teamsters local or state organization comes out and endorses Harris-Walz, does Sean O’Brien actually exist? What a failure of leadership. We cats welcome the Teamsters locals to our team, and we PURR.
