On second thought, perhaps we cats should explain why, with Roe v. Wade teetering on oblivion, we're not leaping to lionize the recently expired Bob Dole.
Will no one in politics or the press bring up his brutal anti-choice campaign for the US Senate in 1974? We haven't seen anyone mention it yet. But Dole was running scared against Congressman (and physician) William Roy, who, although he was not in favor of abortion on demand, had performed several of them in late-term situations. Well, you can just imagine what Dole said and did about that.
It was only a year after the Supreme Court said women had a right to determine their reproductive destiny, but Bob Dole helped put fearmongering and misogyny on the electoral map. He won, of course. We cats won't miss him, and we HISS.
