Yes, we cats are bird predators, but we still feel pretty bad about the death of Flaco, the owl who escaped the Central Park Zoo and contentedly roamed New York City for a year.
Is it because, as a free bird, he looked at us through our windows instead of us looking at him in a cage? Whatever. He definitely captured everybody's imagination — no matter our backgrounds, experiences or beliefs. That's the power of nature. We cats PURR.
