A Pastor Speaks

"It is going to take more than a generation to restore this country to some semblance of sanity and compassion, but that return to being [a] 'shining city on a hill' will only happen if people will begin to vote and worship as if their rights and their very lives depended on it.

"Americans simply must take a fearless look into the mirror to see what has happened to this nation, because they have continued to vote for racists, misogynists...and homophobic and xenophobic candidates.

"It is difficult to fully understand the love affair between Catholics and evangelicals and fascism, but — and this isn't easy for me to say — please, people, stop supporting and attending churches that condemn your gay sons and daughters. Stop perpetuating the churches that teach that women cannot control their own bodies (the way men always have). Literally, stop buying bullets for your own assassins."

—Dr. Roger Ray, Community Christian Church, Springfield, Missouri
