On this awful anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, it's chilling to think about what might have happened if the cops hadn't gotten a tip about white nationalists targeting a Pride parade in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Thirty-one idiots from the so-called "Patriot Front" were seen piling into a U-Haul and heading over to the parade when they got pulled over. They had concealed their faces, of course (although we thought right wingers didn't believe in masks). The local sheriff, who'd been dealing with questions about overcrowding at Kootenai County Jail, assured the public that "we will find room for these 31." HA!
So, thank goodness for observant tipsters. But since the plot was foiled, we have to say: To us, the big news out of this story is that there even was a Pride parade in Coeur d'Alene! So, progress. We cats PURR.
