Countdown To Cutoff

By Baxter

Appointed GOP lamebrain Martha McSally is so far behind astronaut Mark Kelly in the race for her Arizona Senate seat that she's even getting hammered in traditionally Republican Maricopa County.

That's super-bad news for her. Not just because she's behind in Maricopa 54 to 36 percent (astounding), but because the Phoenix media market is the most expensive in the state. Kelly is also beating her in fundraising, so where is McSally going to get the money to compete in Maricopa?

Sure, Mitch McConnell has "reserved" $9 million in airtime in the fall to help. But having a reservation Chez Mitch does not mean one actually gets a table. Things are looking dicey enough for Republicans in the Senate that McConnell may need to spend his McSally money elsewhere: Iowa, say, or North Carolina. Or maybe — Kentucky?

Who's the first Republican Senator Moscow Mitch will be forced to write off? McSally? Or Cory Gardner in Colorado? Susan Collins in Maine?

CNN should put a little countdown clock in the lower right-hand corner of their screen. In the meantime, we cats PURR.
