This is how you know the wheels are coming off the Republican wagon: John McCain's big acceptance speech last night was interrupted by hecklers.
Hello? Hecklers, in the Xcel Energy Center? In this time of tight security and conservative paranoia, how in the world did they get in there?
Well, we cats think we know. With all those delegates having gone home early due to hurricanes — and with the most exciting event of the convention occurring the night before — the GOP clearly had to paper the house. And we suppose that when they did so, a few not-so-loyal troupers slipped in.
Gee, Senator Obama spoke to a crowd of 84,000 in a stadium thrown open to the public — and he didn't get heckled. But the Republicans can't run a tight logistical ship in a convention hall of fewer than 2,500 people?
It's just more proof that they aren't smarter than we are. They just — at least, until this year — always had more money.
