"Aw, Now, Miz Scarlett..."

By Zamboni

Just for the record: We cats love Hattie McDaniel. She was a true African-American pioneer in the Golden Age of Hollywood. "I'd rather play a maid than be one," she said.

And we can't help but invoke Ms. McDaniel's spirit when present-day political leaders use language like the following: Here's a choice nugget from Republican Georgia Congressman Lynn Westmoreland.

"Just from what little I’ve seen of her [Michelle Obama] and Mr. Obama — Senator Obama — they're a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they're uppity."

Does the Republican Party think that ignorant statements like this won't be noticed? And if so, do they not care?

We cats PURR at Hattie McDaniel, for the great actress and comedienne that she was. We know what she'd do with the likes of Lynn Westmoreland (slap him silly). And we HISS at today's Republicans, who are too disgusting for words.
