Wonder How You Feel

By Zamboni

We're thinking today about Cindy McCain.

You see, Mrs. McCain — "the beer heiress," in our favorite parlance — apparently is still very bitter about the vicious campaign that the Bushies waged against her husband and family after John McCain won the New Hampshire primary in 2000.

And she should be. But that's not what this post is about.

We just find it supremely ironic that Senator McCain now has sold himself body and soul to those same Bushies — those scurrilous, Lee Atwater-Karl Rove acolytes who pushed every ugly rumor about McCain eight years ago, from "illegitimate black child" to "pill-popper wife."

And if that's not enough: Now, those same Bushies — who considered the McCain family "fair game" in 2000 — are in charge of the McCain campaign and are "outraged" over the Palin Baby Bombshell. They're screaming "family privacy" and "family off-limits" at all opportunities.

As usual, the Bushies have to try to have it both ways. In the meantime, though, we cats are curled on our favorite sofa, switching our tails — and we're wondering how John and Cindy McCain can live with themselves.
