So, How Mad IS Mitt?

By Sniffles

By our guess, fit to be tied.

As we've noted before, it appears that John McCain really wanted Joe Lieberman as his running mate, and Karl Rove would have none of it.

Not only did Rove call Senator Lieberman and urge him to withdraw — and our reaction to that is, "How dare Joe Lieberman even take a phone call from Karl Rove?" — but Rove was urging the V.P. nomination of former Governor Romney, who doesn't care much for Senator McCain but who dutifully was doing all the right things to convince the cranky 72-year-old Republican nominee to take him on as Veep.

All to no avail. Not only did Senator McCain spin around and pick the highly inexperienced Sarah Palin, he jerked around Governor Romney and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty — all at the same time.

Seems to us like a politically costly way to say "Up yours" to Karl Rove — as much as we cats might appreciate the message. Until we're enlightened on this, though, we're entertaining ourselves with visions of the Mittster learning about Governor Palin's political liabilities — and the decidedly un-Mormon-like language he must have used in response.
