The Palin Baby Bombshell: What Did John McCain Know, and When Did He Know It?

Our first reaction when we heard the news about the pregnancy of Sarah Palin's unwed minor daughter was, "Gee, abstinence-only education doesn't work, does it?"

Our second reaction was, "Family values!"

But finally, our overarching question is, "Did the McCain campaign really vet this woman?"

You have to wonder. To us cats, it's just more evidence that the Palin selection was a panic move — a Hail Mary pass in the wake of a wildly successful Democratic convention and a magnificent Obama speech. You also have to wonder what other Palin shoes are going to drop — nudie photos, perhaps? Pot smoking? (Whoops, that's already happened.)

We cats don't handle money, but if someone were setting up a betting pool on whether Sarah Palin will still be on the Republican ticket come November 4 — well, we'd put down a hundred bucks.
